ORIGIN
A New Year’s Ceremony in Ojai

with Erin Rose Ward and Andrew Griffes

Join us for an intentional crossing into 2026 with a dusk ‘til dawn movement ceremony. Utilizing breath, music, guided free-form dance, and community we will co-create a powerful space to enter into this next year. Harvest the hard-won lessons from 2025 and create your vision for this next solar revolution.

Step into a container that asks for stamina of presence and rewards you with a sunrise.

This gathering is not your typical New Year’s Eve Party. Join us if you wish to create deep connection and an inspiring vision for the year to come.

The event will consist of:

- Breathwork + Visualization Practice

- New Year’s Eve Dinner

- Fire Ceremony

-Ceremonial Cacao

- Movement Ceremony from 9pm - 6am

- New Year’s Day Breakfast

- Pre-Ceremony Group Call

- Post Ceremony Connection + Integration

This event is inspired by The 360 Emergence All Night experience as well as our decade long relationship as guardians of sacred ceremony. We are so grateful to all of our teachers, elders, and allies.

ORIGIN FAQs

  • I We will be alternating between movement waves and periods of rest. The movement waves are different than most dance parties: they start slowly and with an emphasis on cultivating awareness of and through the body, and build through various tempos and textures for about 1 hour each. The rest periods between movement waves are 20-30 minutes, and participants are free to lay provided tri-fold mattresses down in the temple space or take time outside under the night sky.

  • No. The type of “dance” we’ll be doing is the free-form, instinctual kind, where you move your body how you want. So, in that sense, you already know how. There is no particular form (like salsa, bachata, ballet, etc.) so the emphasis is self-inquiry and expression, not performance.

  • If your ideal party involves intentional movement as the mode of conversation, communal meals as the nourishment, and dance as the mind-altering practice, then Yes! There is no alcohol or recreational drugs at the event, and once the movement ceremony begins, there is no talking in the temple space, so it is different than the new year’s parties many are used to. We will have a non-alcoholic toast to ring in the new year.

  • Yes, you’re welcome to bring your own camping gear, though we find that people enjoy resting in the temple space and staying in the energy of the ceremony.

  • Please bring:

    • clothing layers

    • bedding (pillow + blanket)

    • Eye mask

    • A refillable water bottle

    • journal and pen.

Space in the temple is very limited, so we will have an area on the deck outside the temple for your bag with clothing + toiletries.

  • There are lovely new flush toilets this year closer to the temple, and there is an outdoor cold shower. Bring a towel if you plan to start the year with a cold shower with an epic view!

  • We have a couple spots open for participants wishing to attend at reduced cost in exchange for helping us with set-up and take-down. The spots are 50% tuition and work study participants will gather with us at 11am in Ojai on 12/31 and plan to wrap up around 2pm on 1/1. If you’re energized by helping set a beautiful container and being part of a crew, please email us directly to apply.

  • Many people who join us have not yet danced all night in this way. If you like to move your body in community

  • Yes, you are free to move how it feels right for your body, so you can move with any physical limitations as it works for you. That said, the amenities on the land are not well-suited to physical limitations requiring crutches or a wheelchair.

  • Generally, no. At times, the facilitators may guide participants to turn their attention toward each other, in service of building connection, but it will not be “partner dancing”. We have a group agreement of consent for physical touch, so if you come with a partner or friend, or establish consent with someone, you’re welcome to incorporate physical contact in your dance.

  • No, as we’ve created the experience as a ceremony, where we begin and end together. It creates a beautiful sense of trust and togetherness that wouldn’t be possible if people were coming and going.

  • There is no wi-fi and cell service is minimal. Additionally, we ask that participants refrain from using their devices during the movement ceremony (from about 9pm - 6am). So if your plan involves checking in with partners, kids, petsitters, or others, plan to do so before arriving.

Election Week Virtual Meditation Group

Due to this big week in the US, I have decided to extend the Autumn Sangha Virtual Meditation Group through November 8th, and I am opening up this week to anyone who would like to join for 5 days of practice.

Join me and the Autumn Sangha cohort each morning of election week for a 30 minute meditation practice.

There is such benefit in meditating in community, and we welcome those who feel like they could use a space to pause, ground, and find a bit of peace.

These meditations are designed for all levels.
All practices are recording in case the time does not work for you.

Steady As We Go: Pre-Election Movement Meditation

Join me for a community practice that will include pranayama (breath practice), guided movement, and systematic relaxation.

Come as you are and place your opinions, preferences, and predictions aside in favor of a shared place to move your energy through the body and arrive in your center - steady and awake come what may.

All are welcome to this space, whether you live in the US or not. We are all impacted by the reality of our global political climate. There will be extra time after our 90 minute practice for those who wish to share and connect in community.

Let's set our nervous system's up well so that during election week we can be the humans who hold the center, who prioritize kindness, and who can see through the illusion of separateness to the humanity that threads us all together.
